We’re happy to report that the Ridgefield Babe Ruth (RBR) 2009 Spring Season Registration will be done via our new website On-line System. See further instructions below in Section 1.
Update on the Ridgefield Babe Ruth Program
Ridgefield Babe Ruth’s growth has leveled out the past two (2) years, which has been expected. We anticipate enrollment numbers, for 2009, to be similar to last year. We’re planning six (6) 13 Prep Teams; seven (7) 15U Teams (for 14 & 15 year old players) and one (1) 18U Senior Babe Ruth Team (for our 16, 17 & 18 year old players).
RBR is no different then any other sports organization, so we are always in need of volunteers. We hope you will be able to help us in some capacity, every little bit helps. When registering your player, please consider helping us this year.
We have a new addition to our program this year. We are sponsoring a winter training session by Frozen Ropes, who is a long time partner of RBR. See details in Section 2 below. Our players get better by practicing and improving during the off season. Please review the program, which has been discounted by Frozen Ropes and subsidized by RBR. This special offer is only available if you sign-up for the Frozen Ropes training session together with your Babe Ruth registration during the online registration process. If the training session is selected at a later date, or by itself, the program fee will be more expensive. Please review purchase options carefully. This is explained further in the Registration instructions below.
This season we are also looking to do some field improvements at Playground Field. We will share those specific field improvement plans and the fundraising efforts needed to fund these improvements.
The Spring Baseball Season will start on April 1st and conclude with the Town Championship on June 16th. Our Summer Season starts on June 23rd and concludes by August 5th. In order to compete in post-season play, we need our best players and families making a commitment to their respective teams, through August 5th. Please review our detailed “Activity Calendar” on the website homepage for your information, use and planning purpose.
We are looking to close out registration by January 31st (for those also participating in the Frozen Ropes program, the deadline has been extended to 1/11/09 so please process your online registration today).

Section 1 - Important info about New Online Registration process
Note - If you have previously registered on the Ridgefield Little League site, you will find this process to be the same. The Registration process begins with an adult creating an account and then signing back in to add player(s) information.
How to get started?
Important – Please review the Frozen Ropes program in Section 2 below, and determine if you plan to register for that along with the Babe Ruth spring season, since the registration for both Babe Ruth and the Frozen Ropes program is covered in the online registration. Please note that there is a $70 savings to register for both programs now.
Once you’ve made that decision, just click on the “Register Online” link on the menu on the left column, and you’ll go into the actual registration area. Just follow the instructions from there, and you're all set.
Some Important Information for Registration
· 2009 Spring Babe Ruth Divisions
o 13 Prep Division (for birthdates 5/1/95 – 4/30/96)
o 14/15 Division (for birthdates 5/1/93 – 4/30/95)
o 18U Senior Division (for birthdates 5/1/90 – 4/30/93)
· Important dates:
o Signing up for Babe Ruth & Frozen Ropes – register by 1/31/09
o Signing up for just Frozen Ropes – register by 1/11/09
o Signing up for just Babe Ruth – register by 1/31/09
· Program Pricing Info:
o Babe Ruth program only = $225
o Frozen Ropes program only = $295
o Both programs together = $450 (regular price of $520 less special $70 savings).
Special note for 14/15 & 18U Division players - players making the Ridgefield High School baseball team or their Prep School baseball team will be refunded a pro-rated portion of their registration fees to account for the fact that they will miss a portion of the Babe Ruth regular season. Section 2 - Frozen Ropes Program
Ridgefield Babe Ruth Players Get Ready for Your Baseball Season
Read about our winter training program being co-sponsored with Frozen Ropes. Take advantage of a special $70 savings by registering for this training program along with your Babe Ruth registration. Registration deadline is January 4th, 2009.
The Frozen Ropes Professional Instructors will work on improving players fielding, throwing, pitching, catching and hitting skills. Batters will face live pitching to work on hitting fastballs and change ups. Pitchers will throw to hitters to develop their fastball and change up.
Take advantage of our indoor baseball training center to prepare for your upcoming season. Players will have access to:
- Hitting Tunnels
- Pitching Mounds
- Open area for throwing
- Use of instructional aids and Diamond Strength equipment
Program Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Program Times: 7:30 to 9:00 PM
Program Period: Jan 13th - March 12th
Registration Deadline: January 11th, 2009
