Used baseball gear sought for the needy

 

Do you have extra youth baseball and softball equipment lying around, going unused?

Chris McClelland is seeking new and gently used baseball and softball equipment to give to Pitch In for Baseball, a national non-profit organization that collects and distributes youth baseball and softball equipment to impoverish communities around the world.

The drive runs until Feb. 25 so equipment may be delivered by March 1 and distributed for the spring season.

Donations may be dropped off at Tiger Sports on 27 Catoonah Street.

Pitch in for Baseball also accepts money to cover shipping costs. For more information, visit pitchinforbaseball.org or contact Mr. McClelland at 203-644-8233 or   .

• Spring Sports begin on: Monday, March 19.  (Baseball pitchers and catchers begin conditioning on March 12) 
• Registration forms are due in the athletics office by March 5.  Click on this link to learn more about sports registration at RHS.
• Tryout / practice schedules will be posted soon on each team's page in the Spring practice schedule section.
• Athletics registration data is available on Campus Portal.  Look for the Athletics Registration link on the left side of the page after logging in. Please note this link will only appear for those students who have submitted registration forms for the current sports season or who have a Physical Examination or Parent Student Agreement form on file in the Athletics office.

Remember if you plan on trying out for the HS and are interested in playing Babe Ruth baseball you need to still register on the Babe Ruth website for the Spring Season.  Registration is import so we know how many teams to create for the spring season.

Registration for Spring 2012 is Now Open!

Parents and Players - Ridgefield Babe Ruth is excited to announce that we have opened registration for the Spring 2012 Season.  Full programs will be available for players in three divisions this spring.
Also this year will be offering each registered player a keepsake picture of themselves and their teammates, roving instruction from player development and unique in season clinics and workshops.

For those interested in managing we have arranged at no cost for each manager to participate in Frozen Ropes, "Bernie Williams & Don Mattingly Coaches Clinic" on January 28th.

The ‘Ridgefield Babe Ruth Baseball TEAM Clinic’ gives your son a unique opportunity to come in and workout with the Ridgefield Babe Ruth development staff. The clinics will give you the ability to work at a typical high school level practice plan with the staff that will allow your son a jump start on the rest of the competition. With the help of each instructor we will execute the practice plan laid out.

Practice plan:
Defensive work:
-Individual Position play
-Team Defense
-Bunt Defense
-Relays and Cuts
Offensive work:
- Hitting stations
- Target Hitting
- Situational Hitting

The Babe Ruth staff will focus on the importance of fundamentals while playing in a fast paced environment. Through a series of drills that are implemented in our program, your player will be instructed as though they were High School ready!  This program provides an opportunity for players who are considering trying out for the High School team to work on their skills over the Winter or it allows recreational baseball players an opportunity to be ready for the Spring season.
